How I Doubled My Instagram Followers in 5 Fast and Easy Steps
Instagram growth is dependent on many variables. In this post I’ll go over the five things I did that helped me double my Instagram followers fast.

Do you feel like you’re wasting your time on Instagram and still seeing no growth? You post all the time, you even follow the advice that tells you to post twice every single day, yet no one is engaging with your content, and instead of gaining Instagram followers, you’re losing them.
If you treat your business like an actual business and not just like an expensive hobby, you want to ensure that your Instagram followers are actual leads who will engage and eventually buy from you. That’s why increasing your followers with people interested in you and your content is critical. Don’t just post on Instagram and hope for the best. Instead, optimize your time spent on the app by being intentional about your approach.
How to grow your Instagram followers
By implementing these five things, I was able to see consistent growth for the first time in two years:
01. I optimized my Instagram bio
Your Instagram bio is often the first introduction people get to your profile, so it’s essential to make sure your messaging is clear, concise, and engaging.
- The first thing you can do is add keywords to your name to make it searchable on the explore page. If you do life coaching, then add Life Coach to your name.
- Add a niche statement to communicate your offering and tell people exactly what you do.
- Make sure you have your credentials or content pillars to highlight your credibility and build authority.
- Include a call-to-action (CTA) to your bio to tell people why they should click the link.
- Finally, add your website and make sure the link is correct, so you don’t miss out on new leads.
Most people get started on Instagram by creating content right away, but if you are serious about your Instagram, you CANNOT miss this often overlooked step. You don’t have to get this step “right” on your first try. Keep updating it until you hit your sweet spot.
02. I started posting consistently
Decide on which days to post and stick to it. If you have a full-time job, if you’re a parent, or have other responsibilities, posting twice a day each week probably won’t be doable for you, and that’s okay. I highly recommend starting small like posting two or three times a week. Once you get the hang of content creation, then you can increase your posting frequency. I’ve found that three to five times a week works nicely for me.
It’s important to post at the frequency you can maintain rather than just posting every day and ghosting your followers because you got burned out.
03. I revamped my content strategy
If you have been creating content for a while now and feel frustrated since no one is engaging with your content (or your mom is the only one commenting), I highly recommend experimenting with all types of content.
If you only post photos, try adding in a carousel or graphic. If you’re already doing that, then it’s time to start creating Reels. Make sure that your content educates, inspires, and entertains your audience (this means avoiding “Happy Monday!” posts that are not really beneficial to your followers). Do this for a month, track your insights, find out what’s working and what’s not. Rinse and repeat.
To help content creation be more manageable, I highly suggest using Canva to create your graphics. You can also find Canva templates that fit your brand visuals on Creative Market. Using stock photos that are not generic and the ones that echo your brand will also help!
04. I engage with my target audience and Instagram followers
I don’t wait for my target audience to find me; I go out and start the engagement with them. So first, you can find them through relevant hashtags they use, and then you can start liking and commenting on their posts.
Remember to leave genuine comments. A simple “Love this!” comment doesn’t resonate with people. Instead, tell them what you like about their post or ask questions that will lead to more back and forth commenting, eventually leading to a convo in the DMs!
05. In order to grow my Instagram followers I do the above every day
This last step is crucial. As I mentioned earlier, you can’t just show up and ghost your followers. That’s not the kind of impression you want to leave online. I time block a portion of my schedule to do these activities because I’m committed to seeing my numbers grow.
Doing a combination of these things consistently is what has completely changed my account growth. Will you have the same results as I’ve had? Probably not. It’s not a cookie-cutter kind of thing—you might grow faster or slower.
Growth is dependent on a few variables: the quality of your content and visuals, the number of unique accounts that can discover your account, the niche you are in, the amount of time you are able to put into managing your Instagram account, the collaborations you can secure and so on.
